DrugTrain @ NDTC09

The logo for the NDTC 2009 conferenceJan and Tom have just returned from a very successful and exciting trip to the National Drug Treatment Conference where DrugTrain had a stand for the very first time.

If you went to the conference and want to know how your organisation or agency got on in our Mario Kart Challenge you can check the final podium here!

You may be wondering what the mustachioed Italian plumber has to do with DrugTrain, well click here to find out.

Special mention of the great people at 'hi we can help' who are taking Harm Reduction to new heights with some great ideas including a free-to-distribute mobile phone video of how to do CPR. All our trainers now have this video on their phones, so feel free to ask for it when you attend your next DrugTrain course and in turn, feel free to send it on. All you need is a phone thats capable of sending and recieving bluetooth.

We were also impressed with the input from Leon Wylie, (National Substance Use Support Officer (Drugs), Scottish Association of Alcohol and Drug Action Teams, Glasgow) on What service users look for in staff’ .  We whole heartedly agree that training, across the wider workforce, needs to positively affect interpersonal attitudes and behaviours towards substance users.

As Leon said, our training is already designed to do this – but we agree that if services are to improve this type of training needs to reach service managers as well as frontline workers. We also agree that developing appropriate cultures in organisations is vital. Click here to see how we could help with the culture in your organisation.
